OAKLAND, CA (October 20, 2022) – Police arrested 23-year-old Jonathan Hernandez after a fatal crash on 69th Avenue on October 17.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near San Leandro Street.
 
Based on a report, Oakland Police officers were in pursuit of Hernandez, who was suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run crash on Friday, October 14. Subsequently, the suspect crashed into a red Toyota Tacoma pickup truck at 69th Avenue.
 
As a result, a 44-year-old man driving the truck died at the scene. Officials did not yet release his name, pending kin notification.
 
Police arrested Hernandez at the scene and police recovered a gun. They booked him on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, evading police and gun violations.
 
At this point, the CHP continues to investigate the case. In addition, no other details are available.
