Tractor-Trailer Driver Jon Coffey, Bus Driver Taliah Mims Injured in Crash on 20 Freeway in Santo

 
SANTO, TX (December 12, 2022) – Officials identified 64-year-old Jon Coffey as the tractor-trailer driver who caused a wrong-way car crash on 20 Freeway on December 7.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Highway 281 around 5:00 PM. Based on a report, Coffey may have suffered a medical issue prior to the crash.
 
Subsequently, he drove his Volvo tractor-trailer eastbound in the westbound lanes of the freeway.
 
After that, he collided with a charter bus carrying 32 students, staff, and faculty from the Gunter ISD.
 
As a result, crews transported Coffey to Weatherford Regional Hospital in an unknown condition.
 
The driver of the charter bus, 41-year-old Taliah Mims of Mansfield, was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. The paramedics did not report additional injuries.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation.
