Joe Ruiz Identified in Fatal Crash on Farm-to-Market 1788 in Midland County

 
MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (November 21, 2023) – Officials identified 41-year-old Joe Louie Ruiz of Midland who died in a crash on Farm-to-Market 1788 on November 17.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened about 1 mile south of 20 Freeway at approximately 9:09 PM. Based on a report, Ruiz was driving a 2014 Ford van northbound on the road prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a 2016 GMC Sierra flatbed was also traveling northbound on the same road. Due to unknown reasons, Ruiz failed to control speed and struck the GMC Sierra flatbed from the rear.
 
As a result, Ruiz suffered grave injuries in the incident. Emergency crews transported him to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
 
The driver of the other vehicle, 42-year-old Aaron Sanchez Hernandez of McCamey, was not hurt.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
