Joe Gonzales Injured in His Two Dogs Dead in Denver Hit-and-Run

 
DENVER, CO (January 22, 2024) — A 69-year-old man identified as Joe Gonzales was injured hit-and-run crash that also killed his two dogs on Saturday, December 30.
 
According to Denver police and Metro Denver Crime Stoppers, the incident happened near Florida Avenue and South Xavier Street at around 5:11 p.m.
 
Reports said Gonzales was on a walk with his two elderly dogs across Florida Avenue. Then a motorized bike struck him and his dogs before it fled the scene.
 
Paramedics transported him to the hospital, where he still is in recovery three weeks after the crash. Authorities said he will survive. However, he will need rehab and already had three surgeries so far. His two dogs, “Cutie Pie” and “Cupcake,” passed right after the crash.
 
Gonzales’ family made a GoFundMe to help with medical expenses.
 
Denver police said the involved vehicle was a dark-colored motorized dirt bike with a possible front-end damage.
