Jessica Hernandez Dead in Terry County Rollover Crash

 
TERRY COUNTY, TX (February 16, 2025) — 50-year-old Jessica Leigh Hernandez, of Lubbock, died in a rollover accident on Thursday, February 6.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened around 5:31 a.m. on Highway 62 in a Terry County construction zone near Wellman.
 
Texas DPS said 73-year-old Abel Ruiz Hernandez, also of Lubbock, drove a 2010 Honda Fit southwest through the construction area. Then the vehicle veered into the median. After overcorrecting multiple times, the vehicle overturned. It eventually came to rest on its side in the northbound lanes.
 
Jessica, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries. Paramedics arrived and then pronounced her dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, Abel, was not hurt.
 
DPS continues to investigate the incident.
