81-Year-Old James Spencer Dead in Monument Car Accident on 25 Freeway

 
MONUMENT, CO (December 11, 2024) — An 81-year-old man, James Spencer, died in a car accident on Wednesday, November 27.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the incident took place on the 25 Freeway near West Baptist Road at around 10:35 a.m.
 
CSP said a two-car crash involving a Jeep and a Subaru happened on the northbound 25 Freeway near the Monument exit. The drivers then moved their vehicles over onto the shoulder and exchanged information outside their vehicles.
 
After that, a pickup truck hit both vehicles and pushed one of the parked vehicles into the elderly driver. He landed in the southbound lanes of the freeway where southbound traffic ran him over. He died on the scene.
 
On Monday, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased driver as James Spencer.
 
CSP said the driver who hit Spencer remained at the scene. However, they believe other drivers involved in the incident may have left. They ask anyone with information that can help in the investigation to contact them at 719-544-2424.
