Jacob Sussman Arrested, One Dead in Pedestrian Accident in Austin

 
AUSTIN, TX (February 22, 2024) — Officers arrested 41-year-old Jacob Sussman after a fatal pedestrian crash on Wednesday, February 14.
 
According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded to the 6400 block of W Highway 290 at about 2:27 a.m.
 
The initial investigation determined that a pickup truck driven by Sussman collided with the rear of an SUV. After that, the pickup truck hit a pedestrian.
 
Police said the unidentified pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and then died at the scene.
 
The driver of the SUV did not sustain any injuries. The SUV driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
 
Authorities arrested Sussman. Then they booked him into the Travis County Jail. They charged him with one count of intoxication manslaughter with a maximum sentence of 20 years and a $10,000 fine.
 
Officials closed all lanes of Highway 290, between the intersections at William Cannon Drive and Texas 71, for multiple hours.
