Isidro Ruiz Jr. Dead, Enrique Pena Arrested after DUI Collision in El Paso

 
EL PASO, TX (April 3, 2024) — Officials identified 42-year-old Isidro Ruiz Jr. of Fabens as the man killed in a DUI crash on Thursday, March 28.
 
According to the El Paso Police Department, the incident occurred along the 1500 block of George Dieter Drive, near Pellicano Drive at about 12:25 a.m.
 
EPPD responded to the scene. A few moments later, EPPD’s Special Traffic Investigations also arrived in the area. They investigated and then determined that 35-year-old Enrique Joel Pena, of El Paso, drove south on George Dieter. After that, he rear-ended Ruiz Jr.’s vehicle.
 
Ruiz reportedly succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, Pena suffered minor injuries.
 
According to EPPD, Pena was under the influence and committed a felony driving while impaired.
 
Authorities booked Pena into the El Paso County Detention Facility and then charged him with murder.
