Isaiah Escalante Identified in Fatal Bicycle Accident in Tucson

 
TUCSON, AZ (March 27, 2023) – The Tucson Police Department identified 20-year-old Isaiah Williams Escalante as the victim who died in a bicycle accident on East Speedway Boulevard on March 21.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at North County Club Road shortly after 10:00 PM. Based on a report, Escalante was traveling on the bicycle lane prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a Nissan Frontier pickup and a Honda Accord were driving near the intersection. Due to unknown reasons, the Nissan failed to yield the right-of-way and crashed with the Honda.
 
Then, the impact pushed the Honda into the bicycle lane and hit Escalante.
 
As a result, the victim suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
 
Police arrested the driver of the Nissan, 52-year-old Matthew Lee Taleck, on manslaughter, property damage, and two counts of endangerment. They also charged the 23-year-old male driver of the Honda with unrelated charges.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
