Irene Halstied Identified in Fatal Rollover Crash on 35 Freeway in Cooke County
COOKE COUNTY, TX (November 28, 2023) – Officials identified 51-year-old Irene Halstied of Oklahoma City who died in a rollover crash on 35 Freeway on November 18.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 12:01 PM. Based on a report, Halstied was driving a 2005 Kia Rio southbound on the freeway at the time of the crash.
Officers said the road was dry and the posted speed limit was at 75 MPH. Due to unknown reasons, the vehicle veered into the median, rolled over, and came to a stop in the northbound lanes.
As a result, Halstied suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. She was wearing a seatbelt at that time.
Her passenger, 57-year-old Lanita Brown, also from Oklahoma City, sustained non-incapacitating injuries. Crews transported her to Medical City Denton, in Denton, Texas. Brown was also wearing a seatbelt during the incident.
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
