One Killed in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident on 22nd Street at 11th Avenue in Tucson
TUCSON, AZ (January 2, 2024) – The Tucson Police Department is now looking for the hit-and-run driver involved in a fatal bicycle accident on 22nd Street on December 27.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at 11th Avenue around 6:45 PM. Based on the report, the suspect was traveling west on 22nd Street when the crash occurred.
Police said the bicyclist was wearing dark clothing, was not wearing a helmet, and did not have lighting on his bicycle. They described the vehicle as a silver or grey 2002-2006 Toyota. Its driver fled the scene without giving aid to the victim.
As a result, the male bicyclist suffered grave injuries in the incident. Paramedics transported him to the hospital, where he later died. The TPD did not yet release his name, pending kin notification.
Police ask anyone with information to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
