Gustabo Ramirez Killed in Crash While Fleeing Orland Police

 
ORLAND, CA (January 17, 2022) – The Orland Police Department identified 20-year-old Gustabo Ramirez of Chico as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash on Walker Street on January 12.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Papst Avenue around 7:43 PM. Based on a report, police observed Ramirez traveling eastbound on Walker Street at the intersection of 6th Street, performing a wheelie.
 
An officer attempted to stop him but Ramirez failed to yield and continued eastbound at a high rate of speed while passing other vehicles. The officer turned off his lights and sirens and stopped chasing him.
 
Then, Ramirez failed to stop at a red light at Papst Avenue and collided with a red Subaru. Then, he collided with a white Toyota stopped in the westbound lane of East Walker.
 
As a result, Ramirez died in the incident after suffering grave injuries.
 
Emergency crews evaluated the female driver of the Subaru at the scene. In addition, they transported the female driver of the Toyota to a local hospital for treatment.
 
The collision is currently under investigation by Orland Police at this time.
