Grace Vickers Killed, Emilio Castellanos Hospitalized after Two-Car Accident on Highway 24 at Milepost 57

 
OTHELLO, WA (November 8, 2023) — A Yakima woman identified as 19-year-old Grace Vickers died in a two-car crash on Sunday, October 29.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash took place in the westbound lane of Highway 24 at milepost 57 around 3:40 p.m.
 
WSP said Vickers drove a 2000 Honda Civic westbound on Highway 24. Then she left the roadway to the right. After that, she overcorrected and turned left into the eastbound lane of traffic.
 
While trying to re-enter the westbound lane, Vickers struck a 2022 Honda Accord driven by 21-year-old Emilio Castellanos, of Tieton. Then her car stopped in a ditch.
 
Responding officers pronounced Vickers dead at the scene. The WSP has notified her next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the Accord rolled and came to rest upside down. Responders brought Castellanos to a hospital in Othello.
 
WSP said impairment was not a factor in the accident. They added that both drivers wore their seatbelts when the crash occurred.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
