LUBBOCK, TX (February 2, 2024) — Officials arrested 32-year-old Geraldo Sanchez and a 16-year-old after a pursuit crash on Monday, January 29.
 
According to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy saw a car nearly crash with another vehicle on 19th Street and Albany Avenue at about 6:40 p.m.
 
When the deputy tried to make a traffic stop, the vehicle fled and the police chase began.
 
During the pursuit, LCSO said the fleeing car struck another vehicle in traffic. After that, it continued through West Lubbock.
 
The vehicle eventually came to a stop near 26th Street and Milwaukee Avenue. That’s when Sanchez and the 16-year-old passenger started to flee on foot.
 
Authorities then arrested and took Sanchez and the 16-year-old into custody.
 
LSCO said the suspects struck a deputy traveling northbound on Milwaukee. The impact caused the deputy’s vehicle to flip. The deputy ended up having minor injuries.
 
Officers charged the 16-year-old passenger with Evading Arrest. They transported them to the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center.
 
Meanwhile, authorities charged Sanchez with Evading Arrest, Reckless Driving, and Evading Arrest with a Vehicle. Additionally, he also received several traffic and accident-related violations. Officers finally transported him to Lubbock County Detention Center without incident.
