Angel Cano-Valdez Arrested, One Killed after Denver DUI Accident

 
DENVER, CO (February 2, 2024) — Officers arrested 20-year-old Angel E. Cano-Valdez after a fatal DUI crash on Sunday, January 28.
 
According to the Denver Police Department, the two-vehicle accident occurred at 9:34 p.m. on eastbound 6th Avenue at North Federal Boulevard.
 
Police said Cano-Valdez drove a blue GMC Sierra truck eastbound on West 6th Avenue. Then she failed to stop for a stalled white truck with its hazards on.
 
Police said one person who was a passenger in his car died in the crash. Paramedics rushed three other passengers in that car to the hospital with injuries.
 
Authorities said they found several open alcoholic containers in the vehicle. Additionally, a witness said Cano-Valdez drank tequila about 30 minutes prior to the collision.
 
Officers arrested Cano-Valdez for investigation of DUI, vehicular homicide, and three counts of vehicular assault.
