Freddy Cain Jr. Fatally Injured in Lubbock Bicycle Accident on North University Avenue

 
LUBBOCK, TX (May 16, 2024) — A 63-year-old man identified as Freddy Eugene Cain Jr. died in a bicycle crash on Tuesday, April 30.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash took place on North University Avenue near County Road 6100 shortly before 10:15 p.m.
 
Texas DPS said Cain Jr., a Lubbock resident, rode his bike southbound on North University Avenue near County Road 6100. Then a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Clyde Johnson, also of Lubbock, struck him.
 
Emergency responders pronounced Cain Jr. dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, Johnson did not sustain any injuries.
 
Authorities said the road and weather conditions were clear and dry when the accident happened.
