Franklin Azuaje Dead after Midland County Pedestrian Accident

 
MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (August 20, 2024) — 24-year-old Franklin Azuaje, of Midland, died after a pedestrian accident on Saturday, July 20.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal crash took place on Highway 191 at mile marker 270 at about 2:44 a.m.
 
The Texas DPS report states that 28-year-old Devon Gibson, of Odessa, drove a 2023 Ford F-350 westbound on Highway 191 near milepost 270 in the inside lane. Then, for an unknown reason, Azuaje ran into the traffic lanes from north to south. He went into the path of Gibson.
 
Reports said Gibson attempted to avoid Azuaje by taking evasive action. However, he ended up striking him.
 
Emergency responders brought Azuaje to Midland Memorial Hospital where medical personnel later pronounced him dead. Meanwhile, Gibson did not sustain injuries in the incident.
 
Texas DPS handles the ongoing investigation of the crash.
