Four Suffered Injuries in Head-On Crash on Highway 97 near Blewett Pass
CLE ELUM, WA (January 16, 2024) — Four people sustained injuries after a head-on accident on Highway 97 on Monday, January 8.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision took place on Highway 97 near Blewett Pass at about 1:45 p.m.
WSP said a semi jackknifed on Highway 97. Then it blocked the northbound and southbound lanes of the highway.
A vehicle moving northbound tried to pass the semi. It went into a no-passing zone toward oncoming traffic. After that, the driver struck head-on another vehicle traveling southbound.
Paramedics rushed the driver who was hit head-on along with three passengers in that vehicle to the hospital for their injuries. The extent of their injuries was not immediately available.
At this time, authorities do not believe impairment played a role in the incident. They also ruled the cause of the crash as improper passing.
