Flavio Ortiz Identified in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Phoenix

 
PHOENIX, AZ (October 11, 2023) – The Phoenix Police Department identified 49-year-old Flavio Ortiz who died in a hit-and-run crash on 43rd Avenue on October 8.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at McDowell Road around 1:15 AM. Based on a report, a gray SUV was making a left-hand turn from 43rd Avenue onto McDowell Road at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, it collided with a black SUV that was driving south on 43rd Avenue. Officers said the occupant of the black SUV left the scene. They then found Ortiz and three other people inside the gray SUV.
 
As a result, Ortiz sustained grave injuries and died at the hospital.
 
Crews also transported the three other victims in stable conditions.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
