BEATTY, NV (July 27, 2023) — Five people and a dog died in a fiery, head-on car accident on Highway 95 on Friday, July 21.
 
According to Nevada State Police, the fiery head-on crash occurred just before 2:00 p.m. on Highway 95 near mile marker 52, 10 miles south of Beatty.
 
The driver of a Subaru traveled southbound on the highway and entered the northbound lane, trying to pass another vehicle. However, it crashed head-on into a Buick SUV that was traveling northbound. Both vehicles caught fire as a result of the impact.
 
An adult driver and two juvenile passengers died inside the Subaru. In addition, two adults and a dog died inside the Buick.
 
Officials called the incident an absolute tragedy. Authorities closed Highway 95 while emergency responders investigated and cleared crash debris.
