Five Hospitalized after Major Aurora Car Accident on Colfax Avenue
AURORA, CO (November 7, 2023) — Five people sustained injuries in a seven-vehicle crash on Colfax Avenue on Monday, October 23.
The accident took place on eastbound Colfax Avenue just east of 225 Freeway at about 6:30 a.m. According to the Aurora Police Department, there were seven vehicles involved in the crash.
An RTD bus had minor damage from debris. However, no one on the bus sustained injuries.
Several ambulances and fire trucks arrived at the scene. Paramedics then transported five people to the hospital. Two people suffered serious injuries and three others sustained minor injuries.
Aurora’s Traffic Investigation Unit said a medical issue may have contributed to the crash.
Aurora Police temporarily closed eastbound Colfax for several more hours and diverted traffic from Colfax onto the southbound 225 Freeway.
Police urged motorists to use 6th Avenue as an alternate east-west route.
