Fernando Gonzalez-Gonzalez Killed after Solo-Car Crash in Lubbock

 
LUBBOCK, TX (October 10, 2023) — A 36-year-old man identified as Fernando Gonzalez-Gonzalez died in a crash on 27 Freeway on Thursday, September 14.
 
According to Lubbock Police, officers responded near the North Loop 289 for reports of a crash at around 2:47 a.m.
 
Crash investigators said it appears Gonzalez-Gonzalez drove an SUV on the entrance ramp to the 27 Freeway. Then he drove across the northbound lanes of the roadway. After that, he crashed into the middle concrete median.
 
LPD said that when officers arrived at the scene, they found Gonzalez-Gonzalez. They then pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
Paramedics transported a passenger in the vehicle, 46-year-old Carlos Tovar, to University Medical Center with serious injuries.
 
Authorities directed all traffic traveling north in the area to take the Loop 289 exit. In addition, police advised motorists to avoid the area.
