Fermin Gutierrez Dead, Alejandro Carrillo Jr. Arrested in Phoenix DUI Crash

 
PHOENIX, AZ (August 24, 2023) — A 63-year-old man, identified as Fermin Ruiz Gutierrez, died in a DUI accident on Saturday, August 12.
 
According to Phoenix police, they responded at around 3:15 a.m. on Saturday to 51st Avenue and Buckeye Road after receiving reports of a three-car crash.
 
Detectives with police determined that 28-year-old Alejandro Carrillo Jr. drove his car on 51st Avenue. Then his vehicle struck Guttierez’s stationary vehicle. After hitting Guttierez’s car, Carillo also struck another car.
 
Once officers arrived at the scene, they found Guttierez badly injured was found in the scene. Police then transported him to the hospital where medical personnel pronounced him dead.
 
Police said Carrillo Jr. Police showed signs of intoxication when talking to officers. Police arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence as part of their investigation.
 
The investigation of the accident is still ongoing.
