Ernesto Gonzales Arrested after Wheat Ridge DUI Crash on Kipling Street
WHEAT RIDGE, CO (June 25, 2024) — Authorities arrested 41-year-old Ernesto Gonzales following a DUI accident on Monday, June 3.
According to the Wheat Ridge Police, the four-vehicle crash took place on Kipling Street near West 29th Avenue.
Wheat Ridge Police said that Gonzales drove north on Kipling Street. Then he swerved into oncoming traffic which resulted in the accident.
Gonzales and his 9-month-old child were in his car when the crash happened. As a result, Gonzales had a head injury and medics brought him to the hospital. They also transported the baby to the hospital as a precaution.
According to police, there were no other injuries in the incident.
Reports said that the green sedan that Gonzales drove was stolen out of Aurora. In addition, Gonzales had a handgun in the vehicle and showed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol.
Officers brought Gonzales into custody on suspicion of several charges including DUI, child abuse, aggravated motor vehicle theft, and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
The 1st Judicial District Attorney’s Office handles the ongoing investigation of the case.
