Ernestina Castillo-Alfaro, Oneyda Zamora, Rosa Trochez-Montenegro, Jose Urbina, and Nestor Gonzalez-Valerio Dead in Windom Car Accident

5 Killed in Windom Head-On Accident on Highway 56

 
WINDOM, TX (October 10, 2024) — 30-year-old Ernestina Castillo-Alfaro and four others died in a head-on accident on Wednesday, October 2.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 56 and County Road 32 at around 11:26 a.m.
 
Texas DPS said a 2006 Honda Civic occupied with five people traveled eastbound on Highway 56. Then the driver reportedly lost control and drove into oncoming traffic near County Road 3212. After that, it crashed into a 2024 GMC Sierra C2500.
 
All five people inside the Civic died at the scene. Police released their identities: 30-year-old Ernestina Castillo-Alfaro of Bonham, 28-year-old Oneyda Zamora, 26-year-old Rosa Trochez-Montenegro, 23-year-old Jose Urbina, and 57-year-old Nestor Gonzalez-Valerio.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics brought the two people in the Sierra with critical injuries to the Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Police released their names as 48-year-old David Strong of Robinson and 62-year-old Craig Moody.
 
The investigation of the fatal incident is still underway.
