ODESSA, TX (December 13, 2022) — 26-year-old Erick Rivera of Odessa was arrested following a DWI Hit-and-Run on Andrews Highway and 42nd Street on Sunday night, November 27.

The incident, which occurred at around 7:30 p.m., involved a Dodge Ram, according to an affidavit. Authorities said the Dodge Ram, driven by Rivera, ran a red light at the intersection of Andrews Highway and 42nd Street.

It resulted in a collision with another vehicle that had attempted to make a turn on a green arrow.

The Dodge Ram left the crash site but an officer who saw the incident initiated a pursuit. As the chase persisted, the official caught up to Rivera before conducting a traffic stop.

The initial assessment on Rivera included a smell of alcohol, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech upon questioning – all of which indicate signs of driving while intoxicated.

Rivera also admitted later that he had drank three beers before driving the Dodge Ram. He also failed a series of field sobriety tests.

As a result, police arrested Rivera. Authorities brought him to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center before being released on a $1,000 bond.
