Eric Martinez Dies in Tucson Motorcycle Accident

 
TUCSON, AZ (July 27, 2023) — A 35-year-old man identified as Eric Ray Martinez died in a motorcycle crash at the intersection of East Valencia Road and South Craycroft Road on Monday, July 24.
 
According to the Tucson Police Department, the crash took place at around 5:00 a.m. TPD said the investigators determined a vehicle tried to make a left turn from eastbound Valencia Road onto north Craycroft Road.
 
It then crashed into a motorcycle. After that, the driver of the vehicle left the area before officials arrived.
 
Officials pronounced the driver – Martinez – dead at the scene.
 
Tucson Fire Department responded and evaluated the driver and passenger of the motorcycle. They transported the passenger to Banner University Medical Center with critical injuries.
 
According to police, Martinez wore his helmet at the time of the accident. However, he did not have a proper motorcycle endorsement and had a suspended driver’s license.
 
TPD also said that they found drugs and paraphernalia in the belongings of Martinez. At this time, it is not yet determined if he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
 
The focus of the investigation of the crash is the suspect driver who fled the scene after the crash. Detectives ask anyone with information on this crash to call 911 or 99-CRIME.
