Eric Heaney Killed after Head-On Crash on Sparks Boulevard near East Lincoln Way

 
SPARKS, NV (June 25, 2024) — 79-year-old Eric Heaney, of Ren, died following a head-on accident on Wednesday, June 5.
 
The accident took place in the 500 block of Sparks Boulevard near East Lincoln Way just before 8:00 a.m. Wednesday.
 
According to Sparks Police, one vehicle traveled south on Sparks Boulevard. Then for undetermined reason, it crossed over the center median and crashed head-on into a second vehicle.
 
When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered both drivers still trapped in their vehicles. The Sparks Fire Department freed both occupants, one of them was Heaney.
 
Paramedics transported Heaney of Reno to Renown Regional Medical Center. Medical officers pronounced him dead just after arriving.
 
Authorities with the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office said the manner of death was an accident. They also reported the cause of death as multiple blunt force injuries due to vehicular collision.
 
The driver of the other car involved in the crash had major injuries. Medics also transported the driver to the hospital but they are expected to survive.
