Emily Dealy Fatally Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 40 near Mile Marker 126

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO (July 31, 2023) — A 34-year-old woman identified as Emily Tintrup Dealy died in a crash on Sunday, July 23.

According to a Colorado State Patrol spokesperson, the crash happened at mile marker 126 on Highway 40 at around 12:09 p.m. Sunday. The accident involved two vehicles — a Ford F150 and a Ford F250.

CSP said the Ford F250 driven by a 65-year-old man from Littleton traveled east. Then he veered into the westbound lane. After that, he crashed head-on with the Ford F150 driven by a 36-year-old man from Blue River.

The CSP spokesperson said the driver of the F250 suffered serious injuries. At the same time, the driver of the F150 sustained minor injuries.

Dealy, who was a passenger in the F150, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. She wore a seatbelt at the time of the incident. Reports said she was a pre-school director at Steamboat Montessori School.

According to CSP, investigators do not believe impairment or speeding was a factor in the accident.

Officials continue to investigate the crash. The highway reopened at around 5:30 p.m.

The accident is the third fatal accident on U.S. Highway 40 this year.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Emily Dealy.
