Elijah Rangel Killed in Crash with DUI Driver in Houston

 
HOUSTON, TX (February 14, 2023) – Officers identified 26-year-old Elijah Rangel as the victim who died in a suspected DUI crash in the 14900 block of Beaumont Highway on February 4.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 5:30 AM. Based on a report, Rangel was driving back to his house after getting donuts for his friends and their kids at the time of the crash.
 
At the same time, Erik Alonso Salinas was making a left turn on the road. Due to unknown reasons, Salinas failed to yield the right of way and slammed into Rangel’s car.
 
As a result, Rangel died in the incident after sustaining grave injuries.
 
Investigators said Salinas exhibited signs of intoxication. At this point, he remains in the hospital.
 
Rangel’s family sets up a GoFundMe account to help with funeral expenses.
 
As of now, no other details are available. In addition, the case remains under investigation.
