Elena Mroczek Killed in Lynnwood Car Accident on Highway 99

 
LYNNWOOD, WA (October 12, 2023) — A 74-year-old woman, identified as Elena Mroczek of Seattle, died in a car crash on Sunday, October 1.
 
According to the Lynnwood Police Department, the accident happened on Highway 99 between 188th Street SW and 196th Street SW on Sunday afternoon.
 
As of writing, the circumstances that led up to the incident remain unknown. However, the first responders declared Mroczek at the scene of the two-vehicle accident.
 
Police only identified the driver of the other vehicle as a 19-year-old Lynnwood man. There are no reports if the man sustained any injuries from the incident.
 
Lynnwood police spokesperson Maren McKay said that speeding involving the 19-year-old driver may have caused the crash.
 
McKay did not confirm if there were arrests made after the incident.
 
Authorities closed Highway 99 at 3 p.m. in both directions between 188th Street SW and 196th Street SW during an investigation.
