Elena Alonzo Died, Samantha Catlin Gowan Charged Arrested in Corsicana Hit-and-Run
CORSICANA, TX (February 12, 2023) – Elena Alonzo died while Samantha Catlin Gowan was arrested after a hit-and-run on West 7th Avenue on Tuesday evening, January 31.
According to the authorities, the fatal crash took place approximately at 7:10 p.m. on the 3400 block of West 7th Avenue. Initial investigation detailed that Alonzo was trapped and pinned inside the vehicle.
Respondents from Corsicana Fire and Rescue rescued Alonzo and was taken to a hospital where she later died, police said.
On February 1, officials from Corsicana Police Department Investigative Division got a hold and interviewed the suspect, 21-year-old Gowan. Police arrested Gowan on counts of Duty on Striking Fixture and Accident Involving Damage to Vehicle greater than $200. She was booked into Navarro County Jail.
No further details are available as forensic analysis and other investigations are still being conducted.
