SOAP LAKE, WA (February 27, 2025) — An elderly couple sustained injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 17 on Monday, February 17.
 
The Washington State Patrol said the collision occurred at around 7:30 p.m. at the junction of Highway 17 and Highway 28.
 
According to Grant County Fire District No. 7 officials, the driver of a pickup truck failed to yield while making a turn. Then, the pickup collided with a semi-truck.
 
Both the driver and passenger of the pickup, an elderly couple, suffered minor injuries. Emergency responders transported them to a nearby hospital for treatment.
 
Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was not hurt.
 
The impact heavily affected traffic on both highways for several hours as investigators examined the scene. Crews also worked in the area to clear the wreckage.
