Eight People Hospitalized after Car Crash on Double Adobe Road near Highway 80
MCNEAL, AZ (October 10, 2023) — Eight people sustained injuries in a car accident on Double Adobe Road on the morning of Tuesday, August 29.
According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, they received reports of an SUV that picked up several undocumented migrants near the intersection of Highway 80 and Central Highway.
Officers with the McNeal Police Department tried to conduct a traffic stop. However, the SUV left after a pursuit.
Later, U.S. Border Patrol agents also tried to stop the SUV on Double Adobe Road. They set up tire deflation devices to stop the vehicle. However, the driver of the SUV veered off the road to avoid the devices.
The SUV ended up crashing into a fence. After that, it rolled over several times. Investigators on the scene said they discovered eight occupants outside of the cars. Officials identified them as undocumented migrants.
Emergency responders transported eight migrants to surrounding hospitals for treatment of injuries. Deputies said they airlifted two migrants to Tucson due to their severe injuries.
