Eduardo Salaices Killed and Alfonso Estrada-Salinas Arrested after Waco Crash

 
WACO, TX (July 16, 2024) — A 20-year-old identified as Eduardo Soto Salaices died in an accident on Thursday, June 27.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident took place on Katy Lane near Preston in Bellmead at around 7:15 p.m.
 
Texas DPS said a GMC Sierra traveled southbound at an unsafe speed. It resulted in the GMC leaving the roadway and crashing into a tree.
 
Salaices who is a Durango, Mexico resident, and a passenger inside the vehicle died at the scene.
 
Paramedics transported four other passengers to Baylor Scott and White in Waco. Three of them sustained minor injuries and one was in critical condition.
 
Officials arrested the driver identified as 34-year-old Alfonso Estrada-Salinas. They held him on charges of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and intoxication assault with a vehicle.
 
Authorities said they found several open and unopened alcoholic beverages in the car and on the crash site.
 
Police said Estrada-Salinas admitted he drank at least 9 beers during the day. The affidavit said that Estrada-Salinas’ blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.
 
Officers held Estrada-Salinas at the McLennan County Jail and they have placed immigration hold on him.
