Syed Haider, Ebinson Ramirez Dead after Wrong-Way Crash in Tye

 
TYE, TX (August 22, 2024) — Ebinson Jonael Cordova Ramirez and Syed Sulman Haider died in a wrong-way accident on Sunday, August 4.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the wrong-way accident occurred on the 20 Freeway near mile marker 278 shortly before 3:00 a.m.
 
A press release said Tye officers conducted a traffic stop on 20 Freeway. Then they noticed 28-year-old Ebinson Jonael Cordova Ramirez, of Portales, New Mexico, driving in the wrong direction on the freeway.
 
Officers tried to get Ramirez’s attention. However, he continued driving the wrong way. He eventually collided head-on with a Dodge Ram driven by 32-year-old Syed Sulman Haider.
 
Two other vehicles were part of the collision. One of which was an 18-wheeler that slammed into the disabled Dodge Ram and caused damage to another vehicle.
 
Both Ramirez and Haider suffered fatal injuries in the crash and died at the scene.
 
Police believe alcohol may be a factor in the incident. However, they are still waiting for blood results.
 
Authorities continue to investigate this case.
