64-Year-Old Dwayne Smart Died in SUV-Armored Truck Crash in Lubbock

 
LUBBOCK, TX (November 7, 2022) – 64-year-old Dwayne Smart died after an armored bank truck crash on Marsha Sharp Freeway at the intersection of Buddy Holly Avenue on Wednesday morning, November 2.

Authorities received a report of the fatal crash around 9:00 a.m. on the eastbound access road of Marsha Sharp Freeway. It involved an SUV that 20-year-old Vasile Mustata was driving and an armored bank truck driven by Victor Gonzalez with Smart as a passenger.

Mustata was heading east on the access road while Gonzalez was driving south on Texas Avenue when they collided. The impact of the collision caused the truck to fall on its side.

Gonzalez and Smart were ejected from the vehicle and were not wearing seatbelts, police said.

Smart suffered injuries and was taken to UMC, where he later died.

Gonzalez and five occupants of the SUV suffered moderate injuries.

At this time, authorities are still thoroughly investigating the accident. However, no other information is known at this time.
