Dennis Welch Killed after DUI Bellmead Crash

 
BELLMEAD, TX (July 31, 2024) — A 67-year-old bicyclist, Dennis Welch, died in a DUI accident on Sunday, July 14.
 
According to the Bellmead Police Department, a 14-year-old was behind the wheel of a vehicle. Then the teen struck Welch, who was on his bike.
 
Welch sustained fatal injuries and died as a result of the accident.
 
At the time of the crash, police said there is also a 10-year-old inside the vehicle.
 
Officials arrested and charged the 14-year-old driver following the accident.
 
Bellmead Police said that upon additional investigation, they also arrested 40-year-old Erika Ramirez Martinez, of Bellmead. They charged her with one count of criminally negligent homicide and two counts of endangering a child.
 
In addition, police also charged 22-year-old Lisett Andrea Najera, of Bellmead, with one count of contributing alcohol to a minor.
 
Bellmead police said they will continue to investigate this incident.
