David Wheatley Identified in Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Odessa, Arturo Cerros Arrested

 
ODESSA, TX (January 3, 2022) – The Odessa Police Department identified 36-year-old David Wheatley as the victim who died in a pedestrian accident on North County Road on December 20.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Oil Field Drive. Based on a report, Wheatley was walking on the east shoulder of County Road prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, 31-year-old Arturo Cerros was driving a white 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche on the road. In an attempt to pass cars, Cerros drove onto the shoulder – where he struck Wheatley.
 
As a result, Odessa Fire Rescue confirmed that Wheatley died in the incident.
 
Officers arrested Cerros for the offense of Criminally Negligent Homicide – a State Jail Felony.
 
As of now, no other information is known. However, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
