Driver Leanda Lopez Struck 67-Year-Old Modesto Man in Knights Ferry Accident

KNIGHTS FERRY, CA (November 30, 2022) – A crash involving Leanda Lopez killed a cyclist on Highway 120 around 10:40 a.m. on November 25.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was between a 2005 Subaru and a bicycle on the east of Knights Ferry on Highway 120.

A 67-year-old cyclist from Modesto was on the south shoulder of eastbound 120, just west of Tulloch Dam Road. 22-year-old Lopez was also in the area, driving her Subaru on the eastbound lane at 55-60 mph.

Reports say the cyclist turned left on the shoulder, going in the direction of the Subaru. Lopez tried to avoid the cyclist, but both veered to the right, resulting in a collision.

The cyclist was ejected, police added. Responders tried to do lifesaving measures, but he succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet when the accident happened.

There will be no information about the identity of the cyclist until the next of kin is notified.

However, an investigation is ongoing.

Our condolences go to the family and friends of the victim.
