Crystal Mendoza Identified in Fatal Crash on Martinez Losoya Road in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, TX (January 21, 2025) – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office identified 40-year-old Crystal Mendoza who died in a crash in the 1700 block of Martinez Losoya Road on January 13.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened around 6:30 AM. Based on a report, Mendoza was driving a minivan westbound on the road before the crash.
At the same time, 28-year-old Jose Alfredo Nino Lopez was driving a pickup truck eastbound on the same road. Due to unknown reasons, the two vehicles collided in the lanes.
Upon arrival, deputies saw Lopez climb out of the driver-side window. But in his affidavit, Lopez said he was not driving and did not know what happened.
As a result, Mendoza suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
A 13-year-old in the minivan sustained a broken femur while a 14-year-old said she had ankle pain. They were taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
Authorities arrested Lopez on manslaughter, injury to a child, reckless bodily injury, and aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
