Colton Byrd Dies after Motorcycle Hit by Jeep in Palm Desert

 
PALM DESERT, CA (August 19, 2022) — 29-year-old Colton Byrd died after getting struck by a vehicle while riding his motorcycle on Monday morning, August 15.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the fatal collision occurred at 8:05 a.m. and involved a 2022 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2015 Jeep Cherokee.

Preliminary investigation indicated that Byrd was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle heading south on Washington Street. However, the collision happened when the Jeep Cherokee pulled into the intersection on Tucson Circle.

The impact ejected Byrd from his motorcycle. Despite having a helmet on during the incident, he suffered major injuries and died at the scene.

Medical personnel transported the driver of the Jeep Cherokee to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The accident is still under investigation as authorities continue to look into the cause of the crash as well as the factors surrounding it.
