Cody Ray Dead after Fountain Motorcycle Accident on 25 Freeway
FOUNTAIN, CO (June 20, 2024) — A 26-year-old man identified as Cody Ray died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, June 2.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash took place on 25 Freeway near the Mesa Ridge Parkway exit at around 7:20 p.m.
CSP said that Ray rode a motorcycle at a high rate of speed. Then he weaved in and out of traffic on the southbound 25 Freeway. As he was on the Mesa Ridge Parkway exit, he and a Kia Soul both tried to get off simultaneously.
At one point, the two vehicles were side by side as they moved down the exit ramp. The driver in the Kia honked at Ray, who then lost control of his bike. After that, the motorcycle slid into a construction barrel. He struck a sign and eventually came to rest next to the off-ramp sign.
Authorities have not yet determined if the impact ejected Ray from his motorcycle. However, he sustained severe injuries in the accident and died at the scene. His loved ones made a GoFundMe to help with the funeral expenses.
The driver in the Kia was able to stop and did not sustain any injuries.
Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Cody Ray.
