10-Year-Old Child Dead, Antonio Munoz and Eight Others Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 153 [Sweetwater, TX]

Antonio Munoz, Brady Lewis, Nakud Torres, Jessica Davis, and Four Others Hurt in Fatal Sweetwater Accident

 
SWEETWATER, TX (June 20, 2024) — The 10-year-old child of 38-year-old Antonio Munoz, of San Antonio, died in a crash on Thursday, June 6.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident took place on Highway 153, around 30 miles south of Sweetwater, at around 7:13 a.m.
 
Texas DPS said an SUV towing a trailer driven by Munoz traveled north on Highway 153. At the same time, a pickup truck driven by 42-year-old Brady Bill Lewis, of Lubbock, traveled south on the same highway.
 
Then Munoz drifted off the north side of the road and into the barrow ditch. After that, he overcorrected and steered left back toward the roadway. It skidded in the southbound lanes and collided with Lewis’ SUV.
 
Reports said the impact of the crash ejected the 10-year-old child from the SUV. Justice of the Peace Earl Donnel pronounced the child dead at the scene.
 
Paramedics transported Munoz and a 37-year-old passenger, Nakud Torres, of San Antonio, to Hendrick Medical Center – North. Both sustained minor and were in stable condition.
 
Medics also brought a 17-year-old and a 9-year-old to Cook Children’s Hospital for treatment.
 
Emergency responders also rushed Lewis and his passengers, 39-year-old Jessica Ann Davis, of Lubbock, and three children, ages 8, 5, and 14, to Hendrick-North with serious injuries. DPS report listed them in stable condition.
