Cody Jordan Hospitalized after Gila Bend Workplace Incident

 
GILA BEND, AZ (March 8, 2024) — A Gila Bend firefighter, Cody Jordan, sustained injuries in a workplace accident on Friday, February 23.
 
The crash took place at the Gila Bend Fire Station near Pima Street and Scott Avenue at about 5:10 p.m. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said 34-year-old Jordan was doing maintenance work on a fire truck when the accident occurred. He was underneath the cab of a fire truck replacing the battery.
 
Then, at some point, the vehicle fell on him.
 
Paramedics then airlifted him to a hospital in a life-threatening condition. On February 24, MCSO said the firefighter’s condition had improved. Currently, he’s in critical condition.
 
Lisa Jordan, Cody’s wife, said her husband was not able to talk yet because he’s still intubated. In addition, she said he opened his eyes, and he’s been able to squeeze his hands and move his feet.
 
“Last night, I was holding his hands, and I told him to squeeze my hands twice if he loved me. He squeezed my hands six times,” Lisa said.
 
Cody also underwent surgery to stabilize his chest, which sustained fractures in multiple areas.
