Clebson Da Silva Killed, Carlos Coronado Arrested after Amarillo DUI Accident
AMARILLO, TX (January 15, 2025) — 35-year-old Clebson Roberto Hillario Da Silva died in a DUI accident on Friday, January 3.
According to the Amarillo Police Department, the incident happened at around 9:37 p.m. at the intersection of Soncy Road and Legend Avenue.
Amarillo Police said 29-year-old Carlos Coronado drove a 2022 Ram 2500 southbound on Soncy Road. Then he swerved into northbound traffic to avoid a rear-end collision. However, his vehicle struck a 2019 Ford Escape driven by Da Silva.
Paramedics pronounced Da Silva dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. A GoFundMe was set up to help his bereaved family.
Paramedics brought two passengers in the Ford Escape to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officials only identified them as a 34-year-old woman and a 2-year-old child.
Following the collision, officers arrested Coronado and booked him into Randall County Jail on charges of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.
The Amarillo Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Squad continues to investigate the incident.
