Christopher Vargas Killed in Midland Two-Vehicle Accident

 
MIDLAND, TX (January 27, 2025) — A 26-year-old man from San Angelo, Christopher Aaron Vargas, died in an accident on Tuesday, January 21.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at about 6:43 a.m. on Highway 158 near County Road 160.
 
The preliminary information provided by DPS Sergeant Steven Blanco said Vargas drove a Ram 2500 westbound on Highway 158. He traveled in the outside lane near County Road 160.
 
Then Vargas crashed into a Freightliner pulling a trailer, traveling in the same lane ahead of him.
 
Emergency responders arrived and pronounced Vargas dead at the scene of the crash.
 
Meanwhile, the Freightliner driver was not hurt. Officials identified him as 27-year-old Jesus Daniel Mesa-Pena of Tomball, Texas.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
