Christopher Randall and Krystle Rutkowsky Hospitalized after Fiery Car Accident on North Sam Houston Parkway East

 
HUMBLE, TX (January 3, 2024)Christopher Randall died following a fiery car accident on Wednesday, December 25.
 
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at about 12:42 a.m. in the 9600 block of North Sam Houston Parkway East.
 
Officials said a white 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix moved westbound on North Sam Houston Parkway East. Then it lost control and struck a raised concrete curb. After that, it crashed into a power pole.
 
Emergency responders arrived on the scene and found two people trapped in the burning car. Firefighters needed to wait for the power lines to be de-energized before they extinguished the fire and started their rescue efforts.
 
Authorities pronounced the driver, Christopher Randall, dead at the scene. Meanwhile, they rescued the passenger identified as Krystle Rutkowsky. They then brought her to a nearby trauma center with severe burns to over 70% of her body.
 
Investigators have not determined whether speed or impairment played a role in the accident. Wet road conditions may have contributed to the loss of control, officials said.
 
The incident disrupted traffic and caused significant power outages in the area.
 
Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division handles the ongoing investigation of the incident.
