Max Keath Runs Over, Kills Christopher Matthews after Noise Complaint in Beaumont

 
BEAUMONT, TX (November 11, 2022) – Police identified 38-year-old Christopher Matthews as the victim who was struck and killed by a vehicle in an apartment complex on Cheryl Lane on October 30.
 
According to the Texas Safety Department, the collision happened around 3900 block of Cheryl Lane near North Major Drive around 2:32 AM.
 
Based on a report, victim called police in reference to a noise complaint coming from a residence. Prior to officers arriving, a disturbance between Matthews and several others from the residence on Cheryl Lane occurred.
 
45-year-old Max Lee Keath of Mauriceville drove to the apartment complex and ran Matthews over before driving away, police said.
 
As a result, Detectives with the Beaumont Police Department found Matthews with severe injuries. He later died.
 
Keath was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but the charge was upgraded to murder after Matthews died of his injuries, police said.
