YAKIMA, WA (September 14, 2023) – Troopers identified 27-year-old Christian Hernandez who suffered injuries in a pedestrian accident on Highway 82 on September 7.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near milepost 34 around 8:14 PM. Based on a report, Hernandez was walking in the westbound lanes of the highway prior to the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he attempted to cross the street. At that point, 36-year-old Tyler Leist of Selah hit him.
 
As a result, Hernandez suffered injuries in the incident. Crews transported him to MultiCare Yakima for treatment.
 
Police said the victim may face charges of illegal crossing of an interstate.
